Healing and Transformation: A
Writing Journey
Writing is a powerful tool of
healing—for both physical and emotional health—and can be used
effectively as part of a holistic care model that integrates the
arts into healing. This workshop will open your eyes to your and
your patients’ potential for healing and transformation during
times of loss, illness, and transition. Designed as a one-to
two- hour workshop, “Healing and Transformation: A Writing
Journey” also may be presented as a one- to three-day residency
for patients, caregivers, and health professionals with any
level of writing and professional experience.
Wails Wales Whales: A Writing
and Performance Journey
Wails Wales Whales is a unique
one-woman show that celebrates the healing power of imagination
and the arts. Writing voices, theater embodies the experience of
pain and suffering, and each creates opportunities for healing
and transformation. Learn how to create new works of art through
healing and transformation. In-class writing and improvisation
will provide opportunities for creative exploration and
development of new work.
This course is designed for
undergraduate and graduate students in liberal arts and
humanities programs, as well as in medical humanities programs.
The workshop is one to two hours in length and the residency is
designed for one to four weeks. Each workshop and residency is
tailored for each college or university program. |
